What type of badminton racquet should I use?
I really like badminton and when we played it in school I was one of the best kids there. I have a very aggressive game. I rally with the person until they are forced to try to clear me or just give me a high shot. After that I simply put it away. My smash has been returned twice out of about 100 uses. I used the Wilson Titanium Power Racquet(http://www.badmintonalley.com/Wilson_Titanium_Power_p/racket-wilson-ti-power.htm) which worked quite well for me until i smashed it after losing in a third set against my friend who is also really good. In school I did not use my raqcuet but had a lot of sucsess anyway. I am planning on trying out for the team and making it in high school so I would like to know what raqcuet would be good for my game.
Get a light-material racquet (maybe carbon graphite) maybe around 84-87 gm. Tension should be 23 or 24 lbs. Yonex racquets are very good but very expensive. I use a Japanese brand called Toalson and it's pretty good and has a good price, but it is hard to find. So I reccomend a Yonex for you. I don't have very good luck with Wilson...
Ones ranging from $50 US and up are reliable. $100 and up are better, but may not be nessacary for high school play. The $37.50 "Yonex Isometric 30 VF Badminton Racquet" is fine, but if you can afford it, the ones more than $50 are more reliable.
If you ever go to a store and buy a racquet there, NEVER buy a racquet that already has its strings on. Buy them separately. The pre-stringed ones are strung poorly and are not tense enough.
Don't take my word for it, every player has their own unique style, try out some racquets beforehand! Hope you make the team!
