Ever wonder what Cross Bow technology actually means? On impact of the tennis ball, the bridge flexes independently from the racket absorbing the energy of the ball. Upon follow through, the bridge releases the energy it absorbed and shoots it into the hit, kind of like a spring or a bow. How ironic, right? Anyway, this technology is up and coming and Head has developed rackets that can harness the energy of the ball as well as offer maximum control over the ball so you can place it wherever you want.

For example, the Head Airflow line, which was developed for women, offers this technology. The Head Airflow 5 in particular is an extremely solid racket that has three main components manufactured for women. Balance, light-weight power, and ergonomic grip.

The traditional racket is usually head heavy, however, the Head Airflow 5 has relocated a lot of the weight around the bridge offering a lighter weight head for increased maneuverability.

When it comes to tennis, the terms "light-weight" and "power" don't necessarily walk hand in hand. However, when it comes to the Head Airflow 5, these two words go together spaghetti and meatballs or like Roger Federer and Wimbledon. Regardless, women tend to prefer a lightweight racket that can still get the job done and hit that game winning smash and this racket certainly can do just that thanks to the new balance.

An ergonomic grip is the final component of this racket. It goes without saying that a woman's hand is different than a mans. This grip was developed to be thin at the top and thick towards the bottom to fit a woman's hand reducing twist and torque as well as strain on the arm.

So ladies, when you think you are stuck in a mans world, think again because there are definitely people looking out for you. So settle for that bulky and heavy men's racket no more. Head's Airflow 5 is here to save the day along with a few of its closest friends.

2009 Head Extreme, Extreme Pro & Extreme Team Tennis Rackets Feature Teflon

Head Tennis is breaking new ground with its 2009 Tennis rackets by introducing Teflon Polymer to the new 2009 MicroGEL Extreme, Extreme Pro and Extreme Team line of racquets. It’s called Friction Free MicroGel with Teflon. The new Head tennis racquet grommets are injected with Teflon friction-reducing polymer. This provides the most innovative generation of grommets of any Head Tennis racket to date!
This new Teflon technology enables the racquet strings to slide through the grommets with nearly no friction. This drastically reduces mechanical energy loss during ball impact and allows for greater string movement due to the low resistance, offering more power. Engineers are constantly trying to create improvements to string freedom to allow more energy return to the ball.

I need some tennis racquet help!?

I am a collegiate tennis player, and I am looking to buy a new racquet. Currently I have the Prince TT Cloud OS. I play at least 5 days a week for 2 to 3 hours a day. I am more of a consistent player, and I was looking for a racket that would help me keep my consistency, but would give me a little bit more power.

Some rackets I was looking at were: Head Liquidmetal 4, Head Crossbow 3 or 4 (I don't really know the difference between all of the crossbows), and the Yonex RDS 003. Since I'm a college students, I don't have much money, so I would need one that I could buy for under $100 dollars (on sale?)!

If anyone has any comments on the above rackets or any other suggestions, I would very much appreciate it!! :)

you might also wanna consider the yones rds 001 mp or mid cause they r pretty gud(read some of the feedback), the difference between the mp and mid is that the mp has a larger headsize which means more power, spin and a larger sweet spot but the mid has more control

Roger Federer does a William Tell, but with his racquet, not crossbow!
Federer, a six-times Wimbledon champion, astounded crewmembers at a photo shoot with his trick, now a video on YouTube. The demo was a part of proving his accuracy.
