Rip Up Your Lower Abs
There are two important details you must know when trying to find your six pack. Neither of these seem to be common knowledge (although I wish they were). The first one is that you can’t out-train a bad diet. The other is that spot reduction is a myth.
What this means to you as someone who is trying to find their six pack is that you can do as many crunches and other ab exercises as possible in any given day but unless you are working at stripping the fat off your body OVERALL, you can achieved ripped abs but they will still be buried under a layer of fat. Abdominal exercises alone do not burn belly fat. If fat loss is your goal always incorporate strength training and interval training into your routines for optimal results.
So, if you’re watching your caloric intake and working with weights and intervals to get the fat off your body as a whole, you’ll want those abs to be rock hard so that once the fat is off they’ll shine through in all their glory. Here’s a few great exercises to get your abs ready for their unveiling once your body fat percentage has dropped low enough for them to appear.
Reverse Crunches
Lying supine on the floor supporting yourself with your hands at your sides palms to the floor and your head lifted, lift your legs slowly up and curl your body until your knees reach your nose. Curl slowly back until your legs are hovering just above the floor. Repeat as many reps as possible.
Supine Bicycles
Lying supine on the floor, hands behind head for support and elbows out, push your left leg straight out while the right leg bends in and you twist and crunch up with your torso to meet your right knee with your left elbow. Come down to the start position and repeat with the opposite move (left knee meets right elbow), and continue in a bicycling motion. Remember to push your straightening leg straight out away from your body not up. Repeat as many as possible.
Supine Hip Lifts
Lying supine on the floor raise both legs straight up towards the ceiling. Now put both hands behind your head for support and simultaneously lift your hips and crunch with your upper body. Remember when lifting your hips that the motion is one of trying to push your feet through the ceiling, not towards your face (straight up and down, and keep your legs as straight as possible). Repeat as many as possible.
Supine Leg Thrusts
Similar to Hip Lifts, this one takes it one step further. Lying supine on the floor, hands supporting you at your sides, palms down, straighten and raise both legs to a 45 degree angle from your body. From this position, bring your legs straight up to a 90 degree angle and then lift your hips so your feet are heading towards the ceiling. Be careful not to do this all in one move, you should bring your legs to 90 degrees first and only THEN lift your hips, pushing your feet at the ceiling. Then lower your hips and return your legs only as far as the 45 degree angle. Your legs should never go closer to the floor than the 45 degree angle. Repeat as many as possible.
Please remember that all of these moves should be done in a slow and controlled manner. No rushing through it. Be very methodical in all your motions.
One note to remember: if you are feeling any undue stress on your lower back while doing these exercises it would be a good idea to see your doctor before continuing with these exercises. You would also be wise to research and incorporate some lower back strengthening exercises into your routine before continuing with these lower abdominal moves.
Best of luck in your quest for 6 pack abs!!

New Tennis Racquet: Head or Babalot?
I have a 14 yo daughter that plays high school tennis and USTA tournaments. She needs a couple new racquets. She currently plays with a Prince O3 RED, and likes it, but the grip size is all wrong. She would like to get into a Head or Babolat. She is about a 3.5 player. She has good groundstrokes with top spin. She would like a little more control. She uses Head Rip Control 17 strings.
She is little, I mean we HOPE to get a 4.0 grip. (probably have to get a 4 1/8) She is about 5'4" and a little over 100 pounds. I know the "Tweener" racquets would be good. A Babolat Pure Drive or a Head MicroGel Extreme or Monster. Does anyone have any suggestions for racquets she should demo?
Thanks!
---Thanks for somne great advice. She is getting tired of the O3...(girls)...her hand actually measures out at 3 3/4"...she has a very small hand---
Does she really like her O3 red? If that's the case, I would say that you should just get her a couple of those with the smallest handles you can find. Even though Prince doesn't make them any more, you should still be able to find some new ones somewhere. You could also look to see if there's a place near you willing to sell some old demo racquets. I've bought all of mine that way, and it saves lots of money.
It takes some time to adjust to a new racquet, and if she has something she likes there's no reason to change that. On the other hand, this is a good opporunity to make sure she has the right racquet.
If she wants a little more control, look for something that is smaller and a little heavier than the Red. Despite being sold as midplus, the red is practically oversize. I would suggest not going any larger than 100 sq. in. You might also want to try racquets that are 11 oz or heavier. But if these seem too heavy for her, you'll have to go a little lower. I usually suggest getting as heavy a racquet as you can handle without it being cumbersome.
From Prince, the speedport whites, and speedport black would fit the bill. You might also have her try the tour, just to see if she can deal with a near 12 oz racquet. Most of the "...Drive" racquets from Babolat would also work. For Head, you might want to go with the Radical or Extreme. I fear that the Monster would not have enough control. You might also try the kBlades from wilson, and maybe the kPro Open.
These racquets are pretty much all head-light, which makes them more maneuverable, and will make spin production a little easier, as well as being better for net play.
Good luck with the grip size. 1/8 is as small as they usually come. Even if it's a little large now, she should grow into it in a year or so.
Change is brewing as more Indians hoist a glass
Drinking alcohol, once taboo, is becoming more acceptable. But brewers hoping to tap into the vast market have to contend with poor infrastructure, protectionism and bureaucracy. It's 5 o'clock on a Tuesday afternoon and James, Moses and Santosh are into their third (or is it fourth?) pitcher of Kingfisher beer at the Down Town pub in Bangalore, enjoying last call of the "gulp one, get one free ...
