My reservation was from Sunday to Sunday and was booked online directly through the product vendor for Global Resorts Network. It took about 2 minutes to finish securing and paying for the trip. Although a member can book a hot week often as far out as 45 days, this was a last minute vacation idea for my family. What a fun way to finish up the summer before my daughter started back to school. I discovered the availability on a Tuesday afternoon for check in the following Sunday. (I love being flexible so I can grab these deals!)
We arrived late Sunday afternoon. After clearing security at the front gate, we were pointed to the reservation and guest amenity center. We were greeted at the door by staff who showed us where to the check in. It took about 10 minutes to secure our room, get our keys and get to our condo. I was stunned to see how large this vacation complex was. It's a small city!
Following check in, we headed to the local grocery store to stock up for the week.
Our 2 bedroom/3 bath condo was bright and clean with large white tile floors throughout except for the bedrooms and a nice throw rug in the living room (makes good sense in light of the rainy Florida weather and several pools on site). The condo featured a full kitchen and a breakfast bar stocked with dishes, cookware, large and small appliances, just everything you'd need to prepare meals. We enjoyed a washer and dryer and lots of storage closets.
The two bedrooms were separated from each other for maximum privacy and each had their own full baths and double sinks. One room featured two double beds and the other featured a queen with access to the patio. Both had plenty of closet, cabinet and drawer space, night stands, plenty of lighting and TVs. A third guest bath was located off the main living area and featured a tile shower.
The living area was very nice and comfortable, lacking nothing. A beautiful tan leather couch and matching oversized chair were nice to relax on. Just like home, we had end tables, a matching coffee table, large entertainment center and sliding doors to the back patio, beautifully tiled in a Florida burnt orange color. A table and chairs as well as a lounge chair called for outdoor living and being fully screened in overlooking the lake, it was hard to resist. If the weather was too hot, inside we had a beautiful dining area that seated 6 comfortably for meals.

Resort Train to transport guests around the property
The resort offers daily and weekly rates for internet access. We did run into issues with being able to use the internet services. We had to run next door to the Ramada and use their lobby for checking emails as the internet service was not operational during our stay. It was very annoying, but overall, our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. If having access to internet is important, double check with the staff at the resort before you confirm your reservation.
On a final note, the Westgate Vacation Villas would not be a place you would come if you are seeking a quiet romantic private get-away. You won't find that here. There's a lot of action and a lot of families enjoying the amenities and their vacation at Westgate. I loved the family atmosphere and seeing everyone have fun. We were never bothered during our stay and the staff was always friendly and helpful.
The location of the Westgate Vacation Villas are perfect in relation to any of the Orlando/ Kissimmee theme parks, including any Walt Disney Park, SeaWorld, Discovery Cove, and the list goes on. The main gate to Disney World is just one mile away. Also within a few minutes' drive are all the conveniences of home such as major chain grocery stores, the library, 3 Wal-Marts, places like that.

On Location August 2007 – Argentina and Chile
'Had I just entered an endless butterfly farm?' was my first thought upon disembarking the plane at Iguazu airport at the beginning of my trip around Argentina and Chile. Thousands of magnificently coloured butterflies - I knew I was in for something special.
Whilst checking into the Sheraton Hotel, I caught my first glimpse of the impressive falls and eagerly anticipated the opportunity to explore. Boarding the train to Garganta del Diablo (Devils throat falls), a 70 metre deep gorge where several branches of the Iguazu River converge into somewhat violently thundering waterfall, I watched the butterflies flutter in and out of the carriages.
Crossing over numerous boarded passages above the Parana River to the islands, I immediately appreciated just how vast the Iguazu National Park is, covering an estimated area of 550 km² with endless sub topical jungle and fauna. What a truly magical haven! I was extremely lucky to witness the falls in their full splendour following recent heavy rains in Brazil. It was hard to believe that on some occasions the falls almost disappear due to a lack of water.
Onward to Missiones, to find the landscape a vibrant red from the rich content of iron oxide in the earth. Here I spent time with the local Gurani people at Yacutinga Lodge. Considering it was winter in Argentina it was still fairly humid, yet very cool at night when I was grateful for the comfort of my log fire! During my stay at Yacutinga Lodge I undertook several excursions with my guide, Carlos, visiting the Capybara breeding programme and planting a sapling near the Capybara reserve, observing hummingbirds, morpho butterflies and also wildlife during our twilight jungle tour. Following an excellent day, I retreated to my cabin for a well-earned sleep, only to be unexpectedly accompanied by a rather nosey possum for the entire evening.
Leaving Iguazu, I flew back to Buenos Aires to attend the lavish Rojo Tango show at the Faena Hotel, an incredibly slick performance of lively song and dance, complete with excellent food and wine. Onwards to Bariloche, a small alpine-like city situated around Lake Nahuel Huapi in northern Patagonia with snow-capped peaks and an abundance of chocolatieres! From Bariloche I drove to San Martin de los Andes via the stunning seven lakes crossing boasting picturesque views across large lakes including Nahuel Huapi set amidst lush green forests and peaks. Located alongside the shores of Lake Lácar, San Martin de los Andes provides ample opportunities for those seeking adventure and relaxation including horse riding at a local estancia or simply dining in one of its countless brassieres.
My journey continued with a journey winding through the Andes onward to Chile, and around the base of the stunning Lanin Volcano towards Pucon where I observed the immigration officers undertaking their daily 'chore' of table tennis!
I boarded a flight from Valdivia airport to Calama, where I transferred to San Pedro de Atacama, an oasis in the desert.
The following morning I woke at sunrise trying to contain my excitement at being in the driest arid desert in the world. I visited Valle de la Muerte - Death Valley, not really known for this and just mispronounced by a French lady, which was staggering and gave me a true perception of how diverse the Atacama Desert can be in a relatively short distance.
I witnessed the most spectacular sunset I had ever seen or envisaged seeing, a true show of reds, purples, oranges and in amongst this outstanding performance were 4 species of flamingo grazing along the salt flats.
To say I had to pinch myself was a complete understatement. The following morning I rose early to witness the El Tatio geysers spurt steam from the ground in all their grandeur at minus 15 degrees, increasing at the rate of 28 degrees in one hour, thus a dip in the Puritama thermal springs en route back to San Pedro was very welcoming!
During the final stages of my journey I flew back across the Andes to Argentina, to the beautiful vineyards of Mendoza and bodegas that cover a vast area of land at the foot of the Andes. A perfect place to relax at the end my trip.

I'm looking for Paddle Tennis courts in or near Irvine, CA. (Not Ping Pong - this is tennis at 1/3 scale.)
A friend took me to play Paddle Tennis at a court in Culver City, CA and now I'm hooked. I live in Orange County and I cannot locate a place to play this sport.
Just to be clear. This is not a ping pong table game. It's played on a court that looks like a tennis court, but it's one-third the size of a tennis court. The net is the same height and the line markings are similar to tennis specifications.
The biggest difference between Paddle Tennis and Tennis is the racket itself. A Paddle Tennis racket is slightly smaller than a racquetball racket, but it has no strings. It's flat, like a smashball racket (w/ multiple 1/4" air holes as well), but it's about 1/2" thick and it's made of a hard composite material instead of wood. The surface of the paddle is textured.
You play w/ special non-pressurized tennis balls. This deadens the ball, which is perfect for the size of the court.
I got a great workout and I want to play again, but I can't locate a court near me.
This won't be much help, but Venice Beach, CA has Paddle Tennis courts. I bike on the weekend from Venice to Palisades and I always see the courts full. Not sure if you need reservations, so you might want to call for information on that. Irvine to Venice is a far trip, but I thought I'd throw this spot your way in case you may want to check out. You could play, then check out the scene afterwards. Enjoy the beach and/or walk the Venice strip and check out the shops and street performers.
