Pips Rubbers Sponge

A glass block wall is a great way to divide up a room without shutting out light. Although it cannot be load bearing, it is a sturdy structure thanks to the metal rods that we are going to position in the mortar. You can also use this method to use glass blocks to make a shower cubicle. Remember - don't build more than six courses high without leaving the mortar to dry, as it may collapse.

Start off by building a timber frame - use timber the same width as the blocks you are using. Fix the frame to the desired location checking for cables and pipes before you start. Next, you need to nail white expansion foam to the frame - this allows for a small amount of movement to allow for temperature changes. Next you need to position spacers inside the frame, on the floor of the wooden frame carefully measured out. You can now start to butter your glass blocks with mortar, and press them into the gaps between the spacers.

Be careful not to get mortar on the surfaces, as it will not come off if it dries. Wipe with a damp sponge straight away if you get it on the faces. After doing each row, check it is level using a spirit level. Now lay mortar across the top of the row, and fit the metal reinforcing rods along the top of the row, screwing into the wall plate. Every two rows, you should cut a gap in the foam against the wall, and apply a wall tie.

Once all the blocks are in place, you can remove the spacers. You should leave the mortar to dry, and then grout the joints, again being careful to remove any that gets on the block faces. Use a grout shaper to smooth the grout, and use silicone sealant if the junctions need to be waterproof. To finish off you can paint the wooden frame.

The alternative to this method is called the dry method. It uses a timber frame, which is assembled at the same time as you lay the blocks. The sections of the frame can be built up as you lay blocks, and each row sits on a rebated wooden strip with short vertical strips running up the sides of the block. The rebates in the strip stop the blocks falling out, and the frame is held together by clips and brackets.

Find out Why a Customized Table Tennis Racquet is Better than a Ready-Made One

Whether you are a professional or advanced player or just a beginner in the game of table tennis, you have a wide choice of selection of racquets out there to meet your skill proficiency and budget. In selecting which racket is ideal, you have to determine your type of playing style. Based on this style of play, you can consider and decide on what type of table tennis racquet is suited for you.

Table tennis racquets can come pre-assembled or ready made. You can also have it custom built. If you are a beginner and getting into the game just for fun, the recreational model is perfect for you.  In buying the recreational type, you should remember that the rubber should not be taken off from the paddle if it is already worn out.  You have to replace the entire paddle. The recreational rated racquet usually has features with sponge thickness of 1.0mm, a pips-in rubber on one side and a pips-out on the other side with a straight comfort foam, anatomical or flared handle style.

Most experts in the game don't recommend buying ready- made paddles.  They say that the rubbers wear out with age even if sealed. The materials are also damaged by constant exposure to heat, air and light. They prefer that you go out and buy the blade and rubber components from the sports stores and have the racket assembled and personalized to fit your playing style. With regards the blade, it has multi-layers of wood or carbon fibers which can enhance your game.

For a beginner, the type of blade suited for you will depend on your grip. It is recommended that the western style or shake hand blade be used for a shake hand style grip where the racket handle is held in a "V" shape formed by the first finger and thumb. You can try the medium speed racket with an all around/counter attacking style to develop your skill in controlling the ball.  This blade should have a hard inner ply and soft outer ply. When it comes to rubbers for beginners, the 1.5 mm reverse rubber on both sides are the ones recommended.

For the professionals and advanced players coming from Asia, notably the Chinese and Japanese. They popularized the penhold style grip suited for a penhold style blade wherein the racket handle is held between the forefinger and the thumb.

The professional and advanced lines of table racquets have a SSC (Speed, Spin and Control) rating. With the rating, you will easily know what racket to select. If you like a faster and more aggressive attack style, you can select a racket with a higher speed and spin rating. If you want to have offensive and defensive fully controlled shots, you can choose a racquet with higher control ratings. The models for pro and advanced line feature popular blades and rubber sheets. The rubbers are easily removable and fully replaceable.

It is usual to see their rubbers having pips-in with sponge thickness of 1.5 mm and an anatomical handle style. If you are a professional competitor, you can select a   racket with an Anti Vide System in the handle and a double layer of shock absorbing polymers. It improves the attack and counter-attack shots and feel. It also comes with a power light system which transfers the weight towards the head. This model has a very high SSC rating with a sponge thickness of 2mm.

The development and improvement of your game will depend in a large part on your choice of table tennis racquets particularly its major components namely the rubbers, handle, glue and the blade. You should also purchase the appropriate racquet case to preserve it in tip top shape.  Selecting the best type can make you win more games and inspire you to move on into the exciting and highly competitive world of the advanced or professional game of table tennis.
