If your child is interested in tennis, you will want to provide them with the ultimate tennis shoe. The right shoe can give your child the support, comfort and durability that are needed during game play. If a tennis player is wearing just any shoe, it can have an effect on their play and their legs afterwards. Many people including adults know that a good quality made-for-tennis shoe is the way to go. There are some top tennis shoes lined up for kids that make buying them quick and easy.

Adidas has a great line up of excellent shoes for kids. The Barricade V XTD junior has an air mesh tongue for maximum venting; Tpu welds provide a light weight system. Synthetic leather can improve the upper durability of the shoe, helping it to last longer. It also has AdiPRENE inserts in the heel for comfort and shock absorption. A Torsion system gives the midfoot integrity during game play.

Tirand III XTD junior tennis shoe also made by Adidas is a great shoe. It has synthetic material mixed with other material to give the shoe the comfort and support it needs. It has EVA in the soles for extra comfort, durability and absorption of shock.

Tansak junior from Adidas is a fantastic looking shoe with the ultimate features. It comes with injected EVA in the midsole for long term play. It is light weight which helps the player stay focused on the game and keeps them from tiring easily. This shoe offers the best in cushioning and offers synthetic leather with textured surface for playing on all kinds of court surfaces.

FILA also makes a tennis shoe that has proven its merit on the courts. It is called the Torneo junior tennis shoe. It focuses on lateral stability and medial durability. It has an external heel stabilizer and microfiber upper to provide support, comfort and performance. It has lots of moisture management features using airmesh to prevent the shoe from absorbing sweat and becoming stinky. It has soles meant for hard courts as well as multi surface areas.

K-Swiss makes a shoe called the Approach mesh junior. It has synthetic leather and skeletal support giving it breath-ability and support in all the right spots. It also has a heel stabilizer clip that provides even more stability on the court. Great stable shoes give kids an advantage because they prevent muscles in the legs and feet from getting strained and tried, allowing them for a better game.

Choosing the right kids tennis shoe comes down to two things; style and performance. You will want a shoe that your child likes the look of, so design and color choice might be important. It is also crucial to look at the features of the shoe and explain them to the child. Sometimes when a child hears about what cool features the shoe has they could be swayed in that direction over one that is just their favorite color.

Each tennis shoe has something different to offer. So it is also important to note what features are necessary. For example if your child plays tennis on a more intermediate level, then ensuring that the shoe is of the highest quality and standards is probably a great thing. However if your child is just beginning to learn the drills of tennis, then allowing them more freedom when selecting a shoe is okay as well.

Badminton Racket Basics

Badminton rackets can be expensive so it would be wise to know the basics before you buy. If you are a novice player you do not need to spend a lot on a racket. A less expensive badminton racket will do just fine. Aim to spend about £30 maximum. There are many good rackets around at this price.

There are some basic fundamentals to look for in any badminton racket, the most important are the weight, the balance, the head shape, the flexibility and the grip size.

Most racquets weigh between 80-100 grams. More weight should give you extra power, but less maneuverability. A heavy racquet will be more difficult to swing through the air, but it will be more stable than a lighter racket. A lighter racket will offer more swing speed and maneuverability, at the cost of power and stability. The lightest badminton racket i have come across is the Karakal SL-70 and it weighs just 70 grams. This is the weight before you add the strings and your overgrip, so you need to be aware of this.

Yonex are the most popular badminton racket manufacturer and have their own unique system for determining the weight, the U system, which ranges from U= 95-100g all the way to 4U= 80-84g. Various racket makers have their own way of doing things and will be different to Yonex. A novice player should not bother about the weight so much, it is far more important to concentrate on your badminton skills.

The balance of a badminton racket refers to just that. There are three kinds, head heavy, head light, and evenly balanced. Head heavy rackets offer more weight at the top of the swing, giving more power and stability on contact with the shuttle. Head light rackets will enable you to swing the racket quicker, but less weight means less power and stability. Even balanced rackets give you a neutral feel.

The classic head shape is usually an oval shape, but you can also buy isometric head shapes. The isometric head is more square, which creates a larger sweet spot. If you can hit the shuttle in the middle of the racket head you will be hitting the sweet spot. With an enlarged sweet spot you will have more chance of getting power from off centre shots. For a novice this could be a useful advantage

The flexibility of the racket relates to how much flex there is. A stiff racquet will have less flexibility and as such it is unforgiving for a beginner. A flexible racket will obviously have more flex and this will give a beginner a bit more power, as you will have a kind of sling shot effect, but the downside is you will have less control. You should only buy a stiff flex racket when your technique is up to scratch, otherwise you may get shoulder problems, as the vibration from hitting the shuttle travels through your arm and into your shoulder joints.

Grip sizes also come with different systems. Yonex badminton have their G system, which ranges from G2 (the largest)to G5 (the smallest). Other brands use small, medium and large. Your grip size is your own personal preference, everyone is different.

These are the badminton racket basics and i hope this will help you when you choose your next racket.

What tennis racket do you recommend me to get?

I'm 15 years old and would consider myself as an intermediate player. I went to a website and it said I should get a racket with:

Material: composite or graphite on sale or close-out
Weight (strung): at least 11 ounces
Balance: head light or even
Stiffness: medium stiff to very stiff
String Pattern: 14 or 16 mains
Head Size: 90-110 square inches
Length: between 27 and 27.5 inches
The problem is I can't find a good racket that meets these standards.

A tennis racquet is definately a personal preference. dont let the internet tell you what to get. Demo a few racquets and if you like a certain one, buy it.

However, I will suggest Head, Prince, or Wilson raquets. The Head flexpoints are amazing racquets with lots of power and a great feel. They are about 10-11 ounces. They are great for intermediate players and I used them for awhile before trying out some Wilsons. The Prince O 3's with speedports are amazing racquets. The frame is extremely thin so you can generate a ton of racquet head speed. It is perfect for heavy topspin players. The Wilson n-code racquets are nice, I currently use the n5. However, the Wilson racquets dont have as solid a feel as Head or Prince.

Bottom line, dont stick to those standards. Find what you like, and what fits your style of playing and it should all come full circle for you.

Demo the racquet before you buy it. And I suggest Polylon 16 strings. They feel awesome, and retain their feel over time.
