A good way to find out if your coach or mentor is on your side, is to book one tennis lesson. From that first encounter you will soon know whether you want to continue playing tennis or not. Let us hope you do want to continue with playing tennis.
A few problems that you may meet:
1. Your opponent has kindly hit the ball away from you, and you have missed your shot. You will probably want to do something different with your reaction or movement. Prepare before you play your next rally by telling yourself to use an appropriate cue word. Watch your opponent hit the ball and make a decision as to where the ball will travel. More to the left, more to the right, higher, lower, forward, backward and so on. This routine will help you anticipate your opponents shots, and give you the best chance of hitting the ball back into play.
2. You want to improve the accuracy of your forehand cross court. Here is how you can do it, make sure you aim for the lowest part of the net that should be the centre of the tennis net. The reason you aim for the centre of the net is that it is the lowest part of the net. Going outwards from the centre, the net becomes higher, therefore hitting over the lowest part of the net is the best option. You then have some one play rallies with you cross court; you may then develop your accuracy by trying to hit a marked area about 1m wide on your opponents side of the court. If you do this for say 5 to 10 minutes without words or instruction it will help solve your problem of hitting your cross court shot with consistency.
After reading this article you decide that you would like to practice with real conviction and desire. You then find out that practicing is really hard work. Unfortunately when you learn a new skill in tennis you have to think carefully how long it may take you to master it, give yourself some achievable goals so that you may build a strong basic structure to progress and develop your tennis on.
Try not to build your tennis on top of quicksand? You will lose a lot of money. Get that strong base and build your tennis on it, now, before you go to the next step, you would need to practice your cross court for a few weeks. At this stage you need to practice without too much instruction. Remembering that you are feeling for contacting the ball will improve automatically with time and hitting thousands of repetitions.
Again take the bull by the horn and accept your responsibility to do the best you can, when the feeling is not quite right you will know, practice knowing your feelings then you can act upon them. Once you have been given an instruction to learn a basic technique you need to take that information and apply it to hitting thousands of tennis balls, adjusting with your feedback and feelings.
Good luck and enjoy your tennis challenges, enjoy and have fun.
Having Fun With Table Tennis
Table tennis, also known as Ping Pong is a sport that can be played indoors and outdoors as the designated table divided by a net present outdoors and the conditions are ideal for play. But generally, table tennis is a sport interior. The basics of the game at two or four players hit a ball and each resulting from the use of paddles. If you saw a professional table tennis you'll be fascinated by the speed of reflexes players.
Sometimes you can not even follow the ball movement because of the rapid plays. To experts, even the players can hit the ball so it creates a spin to the ball bounce which makes it difficult to predict. But these professional athletes have quick reflexes as the quick reaction time allowing them to strike with confidence and return the ball to the opponent.
As you've probably seen at sports events and in films, table tennis is a great success in East Asia particularly in China, where many great players come. In China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, table tennis called Qiu Ping Pang while in Japan it is called Takkyu Korea and the sport is called Tak-ku.
To give you an idea of the rapid reaction should be, during the Olympics plays, the ball speed was measured at a speed of 112.5 km / h or 69.9 miles per hour. This speed is quite difficult to follow especially on a small table only 274 cm x 152.5 cm x 76 cm high. Speaking of the table, the table is more often painted green or dark blue.
Some tables are black. There is a clear in the middle which is about 15.25 cm or 6 inches. Even if the picture is rather small, table tennis requires a lot of room for players to move and take the quick shot freely. In competitions, you will see players moving as far as 3 meters from the edge of the table.
This situation has prompted the Federation of Table Tennis designate an area 14m long and 7 meters wide and 5 meters high and the competition table tennis. Anything that could affect the performance of the player and could hamper their ability to play well.
Players use paddles to hit the ball. The paddles measuring about 10 cm long and generally a layer of sponge and rubber covering the racket striking the region. Recent studies and scientific research has been finding the best materials that can be used on the surface of strikes in order to maximize the amount of spin and speed of the ball.
Like other sports such as baseball and golf, technology now plays a major role in enhancing capabilities of the players by allowing them to perform in a manner that seems impossible.
The table tennis ball is a small ball of celluloid. Measuring 40mm in diameter, the ball is hollow and quality is determined by the bounce, roundness and consistency.
The original purpose of the game was to see who will be able to obtain a score of 21 in the first. But in 2001, the governing body of international table tennis that score 11 points rule.
The race to 11 has since been adopted in international competitions. But the 21 point scoring system is still played by most people in recreation even small competition.

repressurising used tennis balls?
I play tennis maybe 6 hours a week and I've recently bought new balls. I've played with them for a week and they were great, but the next week I noticed they didn't bounce as well as they used to and they got a little softer. Of course I could buy a new set of tennis balls every week or two for 10$, but I feel like i'm wasting those old tennis balls. After some searching I found this thing called a tennis ball repressuriser.
Basically it's a tank that can contain up to 10 balls. After you put the balls in and close the tank you can put the tank under pressure and the balls get repressurised.
Does anyone have any experience with these kind of things? Is it worth buying one or should I just buy new balls every week or two?
I've never used any, but I would never consider it either.
Re-pressurizing the balls only partially fixes the problem.
Yes, the problem is that the ball loses pressure slowly, but have you ever wondered why? Sure, it's because of the pressure difference between the air in the ball and the ambient air. But the air can only move if the rubber of the ball is porous.
Sure, all tennis ball rubber is porous to an extent, but it is much less so when the balls are new. Unfortunately, as they are used, the rubber begins to deteriorate. Especially if it gets wet or is in humid conditions for a long time.
So basically, even if a pressurizer did work fairly well, the life span of the balls the second time you use them will be much shorter. This is because the rubber is no longer as air-tight as it was originally. If you used a set of three for a week, they'll probably be dead after a day or two after pressurizing them again.
There are some other options for saving money, though. If you are just practicing, you can get "XXX" balls, made for practice use. They are sold very cheaply, as they didn't pass the strict quality control needed for match quality balls. But, they defects aren't so severe as to make the ball unusable.
You could also ask around at some local clubs to see if you could get their used balls. They change balls out pretty often. And the ones they get rid of are often still in pretty good shape.
