Exercise
That's right! They're all black and white. But, wait a minute. Exercise? How can exercise be black and white? When it comes to your health and well-being, there are no gray areas.
Even the simplest amount of exercise done on regular basis can improve your overall health and wellness in your diabetes. Did you know exercises done regularly help control your diabetes? Look at your choices! Diabetics can and should do these three types of exercises on a regular basis. They are aerobic, strength training, and flexibility exercises.
Aerobic exercise increases the heart rate, raises the breathing rate, and works the muscles. This is for people who can withstand vigorous workouts for 5-10 minutes a day, 5 days a week. You might be surprised at how many of your diabetic friends enjoy these activities. Some examples of aerobic exercises are:
-A brisk walk
-Dancing
-Swimming or water aerobic exercises
-Ice-skating or roller-skating
-Tennis
-Stationary biking
Strength training should be done regularly because it builds strong bones and muscles that help you burn more calories than fat. Several days a week is the recommended time. Some examples of strength training are:
-Joining a strength training class to work with weights or elastic bands
-Lifting light weights in the comfort of your own home
Flexibility exercises, or stretching, keeps your joints flexible and reduces your chance of injury during any other activities. Easy stretching for 5-10 minutes helps to warm your body up to prepare for aerobic activities. Be sure to stretch after your workout because your warm muscles will stretch easier and that's when you gain the flexibility you need.
These three exercises can and will improve your health and the way you feel about life. You will receive energy, better health, and most importantly, you will get your life back!
You don't have the time or money to do some of these suggested exercises? Here are some helpful tips to get active during the day while you do your normal errands and activities:
1. Walk whenever possible.
2. Take the stairs whenever possible. Remember: safety first!
3. Work in the garden, rake leaves, or water your lawn the old-fashioned way and forget the automatic sprinklers.
4. Park at the other end of the parking lot to walk some extra steps.
5. Don't pay someone to walk your dog - you walk your dog.
6. Take the garbage out.
7. Do some housecleaning.
8. Hide your television remotes and get up to turn the channels.
I see. You need just a little help to take control of your diabetes. With mild exercise and a healthy diet, natural diabetes support supplements will improve your overall health and well-being. Diabetes doesn't have to be the end of your life. With these few simple changes, you might actually find it's the beginning of your life. So, get out there and start living again! You have no excuses now, my friend!
ATP Tennis- Querrey Obtains his Second ATP Title by Winning the L.A Tennis Open Trophy
Sam Querrey, a 21-year-old American now ranked at No. 26 in the world, obtained his second ATP title after beating the Australian Carsten Ball with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the LA Tennis Open. The LA Open was Querrey’s third final in three weeks, but the American was unable to garner a victory until this last tournament. A runner-up at Newport and Indianapolis, Querrey lost against Rajeev Ram and Robby Ginepri, respectively. Before Querry and Ball were matched against each other, Querrey defeated Tommy Haas, while Ball beat the Argentine Leonardo Mayer. Once engaged in the final, both Querrey and Ball began with strong, aggressive play. Querrey, however, managed to break Ball’s service twice, winning the first set 6-4. In the second set, Ball’s fortunes changed; he began pressuring the American with his strong forehand shots and his difficult left-handed serve. Ball was able to win the second set, evening out the match. During the third set, Querrey recovered from the loss, making numerous first serves while putting pressure on Ball’s serves. In spite of Ball’s efforts, Querrey took the victory in the final set with a score of 6-1, a win that also gave him the match. At the end of the match, Ball said that he was disappointed about his loss, but was nonetheless grateful for having a “good week.” The LA Open gave the Australian-born player an opportunity to enter his first ATP level tournament final, as well as his first win in a match on tour. “Carsten had an unbelievable week,” Querrey said. The winner said that, although Ball put up a good fight, he felt confident in his game and emphasized how happy he was to win his second title of the year. “It feels great. After losing two finals there was no way I wanted to lose a third. I was worried after the second set. He was putting pressure on me. I was mad at myself. I started thinking about the other finals. But during the changeover I collected myself. I lifted my first-serve percentage in the third set; that was the key. I was able to keep it all together,” Querrey said. Querrey also said that his fan club, “the Samurais,” – a group of old high school friends – offered a great deal of support and helped bolster his confidence. Haas complained about the rowdy group, but Querrey backed his friends. “They are fine. They clap for people when they hit good shots. They are not out of control.” With his new title, Querrey is confident that he will enter the top 32 to play at the US Open, held on August 31st. Prior to the big event, though, Querrey will be playing at the Washington, D.C., Montreal, and Cincinnati tournaments, where he can expect greater challenges, as he will be playing some of the best in the top 20.

Why don't they use optical yellow for baseballs like they do for tennis balls to make them easier to see?
A long time ago they switched from white tennis balls to optical yellow. It seems that it would be safer to do this with baseballs, especially with Little League. For a sport which involves trying to catch a relatively small, hard projectile that's travellng at a high speed, (or sometimes, if you're a batter, trying to avoid getting hit by one, etc.) it seems like baseball has long resisted efforts to afford more protection for its players. I think this is especially notable at the youth level, where a lot of kids haven't yet developed the reflexes and skills of adult players. My son plays Lilttle League and it always amazes me how little attention is paid towards safety. There is a lot of equipment available that is not made available to these kids. A lot of other sports which involve hard high speed projectiles like lacrosse, hockey, etc. also mandate the wearing of more protective equipment thatn baseball does. Is it tradition? Machismo? Or just stupidity?
The former owner of the A's, Charlie Finley try it back in the 70's. The league didn't buy it.
